"Gold-filled" means that a metal (usually copper) has a high-quality alloy of 14-karat gold. The gold is mechanically bonded to the base metal through heat and pressure. This thickness of the gold is at least 1/20th of the total weight. When used correctly, gold-filled jewelry will last just like gold (a lifetime). It retains its color and offers a beautiful and affordable quality that is well-tolerated by people with allergies to metals other than gold.
