Vermeil means that the base is made of sterling silver and om top there''s a layer of gold (16 carats in this case).
Amethyst is a form of quartz. The purple hue of amethyst is formed in it's crystal structure due to the presence of trace elements such as iron. It is the birthstone for the month of February.
